Sometimes, when feeding challenges linger despite your best efforts, it’s not about what you’re doing wrong. It’s about how your baby’s body feels.
That’s where Craniosacral Therapy (CST) can help.
What Is Craniosacral Therapy?
CST (Craniosacral Therapy) is a gentle, hands-on therapy that helps release tension in your baby’s muscles and connective tissues — especially around the head, neck, and shoulders.
During pregnancy and birth, a baby’s body experiences a lot of pressure and movement. Those tight spaces, strong contractions, or a long delivery can sometimes create tension that affects how a baby feeds, turns their head, or even settles to sleep.
CST works by helping your baby’s body relax and realign. The touch is very light — often no more pressure than you’d use to check a ripe tomato. Many babies find the sessions soothing and may even fall asleep during treatment.
How CST Supports Feeding
Babies use over 30 muscles in their face, mouth, and neck every time they feed. If there’s tightness or imbalance anywhere in that system, it can show up as:
* Difficulty maintaining latch
* Clicking or leaking milk while feeding
* Short or frequent feeds
* Fussiness at the breast or bottle
* Gassiness or digestive discomfort
By releasing that tension, CST can help babies move their jaw more freely, coordinate their suck-swallow-breathe rhythm, and feed more comfortably — without as much effort.
It’s not about “fixing” your baby. It’s about giving their body the space and balance it needs to do what it already knows how to do.
What to Expect During a Session at KBC
CST sessions at Kentucky Breastfeeding Center are calm, baby-led, and completely individualized.
You’ll stay with your baby the entire time. Your provider will use gentle touch to assess areas of tension and help your baby’s body unwind naturally. Some babies nurse, some nap, and some wiggle and stretch — all are normal responses.
The room is quiet and relaxed, with soft lighting and plenty of time built in for feeding, diaper changes, and connection.
If your baby has been working through tongue tie, feeding coordination issues, or ongoing discomfort, CST can be a beautiful complement to your feeding plan.
After the Session
You might notice small changes right away — a calmer latch, easier turns of the head, longer stretches of sleep, or just a baby who seems more at ease in their body.
Progress often continues with each session as your baby learns new patterns of movement and balance.
We’ll help you understand what to look for, what’s normal, and how to continue supporting your baby at home between visits.
Every Baby Deserves to Feel Comfortable in Their Body
CST isn’t magic — but it’s often the missing piece for babies who are working hard to feed, grow, and settle.
You trusted your instincts that something wasn’t quite right. Now, we’ll help your baby find comfort and coordination so feeding — and life — feels a little easier.
